The Brief

Increase the number of little Wellingtonians visiting the Zoo, by letting them know about the opening of a new area with improved bear and tiger enclosures, that allows visitors to get closer to the animals.


The Idea

Bring the Zoo to the city through a series of eye-catching posters portraying different zoo animals, which transmitted live sounds from their enclosures.
The campaign also included a makeover of the City - Zoo bus with a surprise jungle inside, as well as press, online, radio and cinema ads, all encouraging kids to experience their wild world up close at the new Asia Precinct.
During the campaign the Zoo saw an increase in visits of 198% compared to an average week in the same year.

*Newspaper ad ‘Bear got your tongue’ for Wellington Zoo took top spot in the ‘Best Craft – Art’ category at the News Works 2013 Newspaper Ad of the Year awards. Wellington Zoo ‘Eye of the Tiger’ was runner up in the ‘Best Craft – Art’ category.
